The purpose of this project is the development of new polymer/metal/ceramic composites through the use of colloidal techniques for biomedical applications such as temporary prosthesis or bone reconstruction. During the last two years we have worked in the processing of PLA/Mg/HA composites by mixing materials in a liquid vehicle to later use shaping routes such as Thermopressing, 3D-Printing,Tape Casting or Electrospinning. Our designed processing strategy allows obtaining different composites with different contents of bioinorganic particles. We continue this research line with an exhaustive biological characterization of these materials by studies of cellular viability, which are being carried out at the Institute of Biomaterials, FAU. The visit and research at the Institute of Biomaterials, FAU, is funded by a fellowship of the J. of the Europ. Ceram. Soc. Trust (JECS Trust)
