Cell biology evaluation of laser sintered HAp and 45S5 bioactive glass coatings on textured surfaces

Betreuer (UMinho): Prof. Filipe Samuel Silva

Betreuer (FAU): Dr. Rainer Detsch, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Aldo R. Boccaccini

Dr Joana Mesquita-Guimarães holds a Post-Doc position in the Center of Excellence, CMEMS (Center for Microelectromechanical Systems , of the University of Minho, Portugal. Her research work currently focuses on additive manufacturing techniques, as laser sintering for dental prostheses and for developing bioactive and antibacterial surfaces, including previous collaboration with our Institute on bioactive glass coated bioinert ceramics [1]. The present project involves the cell biology testing of laser sintered coatings of hydroxyapatite and 45S5 bioactive glass (BG) on textured surfaces. MC3T3-E1 cells (primary osteoblasts) will be used.
