Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini attended the meeting of the EU project “Baltic Biomaterials Centre of Excellence (BBCE)”, held at AO Research Institute (ARI), Davos, Switzerland, hosted by Dr. Mauro Alini, Head Musculoskeletal Regeneration, ARI. The project has received funding from the European Commission (Horizon 2020) under the Teaming “Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation” framework and will combine expertise and infrastructure in the field of biomaterials leading to the formation of a critical mass in research and development in Latvia. The main objective is to establish a joint Baltic Biomaterials Centre of Excellence for advanced biomaterial development based on a long-term strategic cooperation between AO Research Institute Davos (ARI), the FAU Institute of Biomaterials in Erlangen, Germany, and three institutions from Latvia; The Rudolfs Cimdins Riga Biomaterials Innovations and Development Centre, Institute of General Chemical Engineering, Riga Technical University (RTU RBIDC), Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS) and Riga Stradins University, (RSU). The project coordinator is Dr. Jānis Ločs, Institute of General Chemical Engineering, Riga Technical University (pictured with Prof. Boccaccini).
