Dr. Rainer Detsch and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini attended the progress meeting of the Collaborative Research Centre TRR/SFB 225 “From the fundamentals of biofabrication towards functional tissue models” held on 9-11 March 2020 in Kloster Banz, Germany. The Centre has received funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG)  and is investigating fundamentals of biofabrication and its systematic exploitation to generate functional human tissue models in a 12-year perspective. The research activities in TRR225 involve strong collaboration of three Universities (University of Würzburg, University of Bayreuth and University of Erlangen-Nuremberg) with complementary support of the State of Bavaria (Bavarian Polymer Institute). In SFB TRR 225, Prof. Boccaccini is the spokesperson for the site Erlangen, which includes active principal investigators from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) and the University Hospital Erlangen (UKER). Prof. Boccaccini is also a member of the TRR225 board. Three PhD students are currently carrying our their research projects at the FAU Institute of Biomaterials funded by TRR225.
