On 1st July, we received the visit of Prof. Rubén D. Costa, Chair of Biogenic Functional Materials, Technical University of Munich campus Straubing. We collaborated in the past with Prof. Costa on the development of Micropatterned Down-Converting Coating for White Bio-Hybrid Light-Emitting Diodes, with former PhD student Dr. Samira Tansaz leading our (Institute of Biomaterials) contribution [1]. This work was part of the “Protein-based lighting” research which won the 2021 Materials Chemistry Division Horizon Prize: Stephanie L Kwolek Award of the Royal Society of Chemistry, (RSC), as shown in the picture of Prof. Costa and Prof. Boccaccini.
