The annual progress meeting (M30) of the EU (Horizon Europe) project Nanobloc(R) (ANTIVIRAL, ANTIBACTERIAL & ANTIFUNGAL NANOCOATING PLATFORM) was held online on 1st July 2024. Dr. Zoya Hadzhieva, Ms Andrada Damian-Buda (investigators on the project) and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini attended the meeting. The project is coordinated by Prof. Monica Ferraris from Polytechnic of Turin, Italy, and includes academic and industrial partners from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Belgium. Our Institute is involved in the Work Package dealing with the synthesis of antibacterial coatings by using sol-gel and electrophoretic deposition. All academic and industrial project partners took part in the meeting and discussed the future work on novel coatings for antibacterial and antiviral applications. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme under grant agreement nr. 101057597. The next meeting will take place in mid 2025 in Portugal. We published recently a review paper related to the topic of this project [1].
