Best doctoral thesis award of the FAU Department of Materials Science and Engineering for Dr. Zoya Hadzhieva
We are happy to announce that Dr. Zoya Hadzhieva was one of the recipients of the Award for Best Doctoral Thesis 2025 of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. The Department recognizes outstanding doctoral theses carried out in any of the 9 Institutes of the Department in the previous year. Zoya earned her doctoral degree with her thesis entitled: “Electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of advanced bioactive and antibacterial zein-based coatings on titanium for biomedical applications”, which she defended on 20th September 2024 and was carried out at the Institute of Biomaterials under the supervision of Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini. The research work was conducted in the frame of the DFG funded project “EPD BioCoat” (NCN-DFG Polish-German Funding Initiative) in collaboration with colleagues at Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science, AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow, Poland. The award ceremony took place on 17th July 2025 as part of the Summer Party of the Department. Congratulations !
