Strong participation of our Institute at ESB 2025 conference in Turin, Italy
Our Institute had a very active participation at the 34th Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB 2025), held on 7-11 September 2025 in Turin, Italy. Seveval members of the Institute (Dr. Irem Unalan, Meng Li, Luiza Mirt, Renato Matosinhos, Sena Harmanci) contributed with poster presentations. Prof. Boccaccini was the co-chair of the symposium: “Biomaterials for Ionic Medicine”, which attracted a lot of interest. Moreover several other contributions were presented in collaboration with researchers from other institutions, e.g. in the framework of the EU projects BBCE and FunGlass. It was nice to meet also former members or visitors of our Institute, including Dr. Kai Zheng, Dr. Farnaz Ghorbani, Dr. Karolina Cysewska, Dr. Ashish Vishwas Pandit, Dr. Fathi Kurtuldu, Giovanni Lo Bello, Asimenia Lekidou, Zarin Moghaddam, etc. A highlight of the conference was the Plenary talk by Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, who presented the plenary lecture: “Ionic Medicine and Biofabrication: Opportunities and Challenges for Bioactive Glasses”. Prof. Boccaccini received the George Winter Award of the European Society For Biomaterials – ESB, the highest award of ESB, a recognition that honors pioneers whose work has made lasting contributions to the field of biomaterials.
