Prof. Boccaccini highlighted the importance of FEMS in the European materials science and technology landscape, noting that EUROMAT is one of the largest conferences in Europe in the field of Materials Science and Engineering, attracting almost 2,000 participants. He also shared a personal reflection, mentioning that he had attended the very first EUROMAT conference in 1989 in Aachen, while he was a PhD student at RWTH Aachen University. EUROMAT conferences are organised every two years in different European countries on behalf of FEMS.
