Our Institute participated at the Long Night of the Sciences 2025
On 24th October 2025, our Institute participated actively at the Long Night of the Sciences in Erlangen. We presented a stand demonstrating 3D printing technologies for biomedical applications. In particular, we showed the advances of 3D printing of polymer biomaterials. Implants and scaffolds of different strengths can be produced with the help of 3D printing. Soft materials such as cosmetic creme can be used as model ink to print 3D structures. In actual applications, hydrogels loaded with cells (bioinks) are used for biofabrication of tissue-like structures, which is part of our research activities in the framework of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre SFB/TRR 225. We also presented posters of our currrent EU funded projects NanoBloc, BBCE, EngViPO and our DFG funded projects SFB/CRC 1270 (ELAINE), SFB/CRC 1540 Exploring Brain Mechanics (EBM) and FOR 5657 „BIOAntiFatigue”. We thank everyone who contributed to the success of our stand, specially our PhD students team coordinated by Lisa Schöbel and Dr. Julia Will and the great technical support of Mr Heinz Mahler.
