New International Research Project at the Institute of Biomaterials

We are pleased to announce the approval of funding through the Institute Partnership Program by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for the research project with the Central Metallurgical Research & Development Institute (CMRDI), Egypt, entitled “Synergistic hybrid organic–inorganic coating strategy combining bioactive natural materials and PEO biocompatibility on biodegradable magnesium for orthopedic implants.” The project aims to advance next-generation bioactive and biodegradable implant technologies. The online kick-off meeting took place on 16th December 2025, with the participation of Prof. Adel Francis, Dr. Marwa Abdel Aziz, and Eng. Amira Elmaddah from CMRDI, and Dr. Irem Unalan, Dr. Zoya Hadzhieva and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini. We look forward to a productive collaboration and impactful outcomes that will strengthen Germany-Egypt international cooperation in biomaterials research.
