Doctoral thesis success: Karla Faquine Rodrigues
Congratulations to Karla Faquine Rodrigues on successfully defending her doctoral thesis titled “Electrospun nanofibers based on polycaprolactone, functionalized cellulose nanocrystals, and Melaleuca alternifolia essential oil for tissue regeneration” on 15th January, 2026. Karla carried out her doctoral research at Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica – ITA, Brazil, under the supervision of Prof. Gilmar Thim and Prof. Thaís Montanheiro, in co-tutelle with Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini at FAU. Prof. Boccaccini highlighted the innovative character of Karla’s project in the field of functional fibrous structures for soft tissue repair, in particular the use of antibacterial essential oils. Papers are in preparation from the results of Karla’s project and a comprehensive review paper has been already published [1]. Many congratulations to Karla on the successful defense of her doctoral thesis, we wish Karla all the best in her future career.
