PD Dr. Elisabeth Zinser (Franz-Penzoldt-Zentrum, FAU, UKER) visits the Institute of Biomaterials
On 21st January we received the visit of PD Dr. Elisabeth Zinser from the Franz-Penzoldt-Zentrum, who delivered a very interesting lecture to the Master’s students of the course Biomaterials for Implants in our Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The lecture focused on the 3R principle (Reduce, Refine, Replace) in the context of animal testing for biomedical research, covering best practices, new approaches, and ethical aspects, as well as the implementation of the Erlanger Initiative 3R (ERI3R) at FAU and the University Hospital Erlangen for students and researchers, of which Dr. Zinser is the spokesperson. The lecture was highly informative and generated great interest among the students! Our Institute is contributing to the initiative, specifically to the 3R Technology platform, with our work on 3D tissue models by biofabrication.
