Co-organised by Dr. Martin Michálek (Head of Biomaterials Department, FunGlass Center, Trencin, Slovakia) and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, the 3rd Biomaterials Research Day of the Department of Biomaterials at FunGlass Center was held on 9th February 2026 in hybrid form. This scientific symposium included 10 presentations from researchers from FunGlass Center and from the FAU Institute of Biomaterials. Several presentations were the result of the long standing collaboration between both Institutes. Prof. Boccaccini said: “It is great that we organised the Research Day for the third consecutive year. There were very interesting presentations, mainly from early career researchers, showcasing the broad biomaterials areas being investigated in both institutions. We had also invited speakers. Several presentations showed new research directions that we will follow to expand the collaboration and opportunities at both institutions”. The event attracted more than 70 online attendees, highlighting the strong international interest in biomaterials research. Congratulations to the members of our Institute who delivered outstanding presentations, PhD students: Hannah Kissel, Andrada-Ioana Damian-Buda, Jonas Röder and Memoona Akhtar.
