The retreat of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (WW Department) of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg took place on 12-13 February 2026 in Weisendorf (Bavaria). Prof. Boccaccini attended the meeting representing the Institute of Biomaterials. The meeting, chaired by Department’s Head Prof. Carolin Koerner, focused on planning the Department’s strategy for the coming years. Prof. Boccaccini said: “The retreat was very productive and once again highlighted the strengths of our Department, particularly the high impact of our research outputs across all areas of materials science and engineering. Our Department continues to thrive as one of the leading departments in our field in Germany and beyond.”
