The first meeting in 2026 of the Board of the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS) took place online on 19th February. Prof. Boccaccini, as immediate past president of FEMS, attended the meeting which was attended by Board members representing FEMS member societies from 9 different EU countries. The meeting was the first chaired by current FEMS president Prof. Paula Vilarinho. Prof. Boccaccini said: “it is an honor to continue serving in the Board of FEMS. We discussed numerous activities, initiatives and great ideas for the coming 2 years, specially the organisation of the FEMS Junior EUROMAT 2026 conference, to be held in July in Greece, the FEMS Industry Symposium on AI in Materials Science which will take place in Frankfurt in January 2027 and our flagship conference EUROMAT 2027, which will take place in Graz, Austria.”
