On 4 March, the Institute of Biomaterials at FAU hosted a workshop on quantitative XRD by Rietveld refinement combined with the G‑factor in Erlangen, Germany, as part of the European project EngVIPO – Engineering Vascularized Implants for Personalised Osteochondral Tissue Regeneration: From medical imaging to pre‑clinical validation. The organizers, Prof. Aldo Boccaccini, Marcela Arango Ospina, and Dr. Zoya Hadzhieva, welcomed the participants, including representatives of project partners from the University of Minho (Dr. Miguel Antunes Correia Oliveira and Dr. Sandra Cristina Almeida Pina) and the University of Granada (Prof. Juan Antonio Marchal Corrales and Ana Voltes Martinez). The workshop was led by Dr. Katrin Hurle at the Institute of Mineralogy, FAU, and focused on hands-on training in XRD analysis. Additionally, participants gained experience using the EVA software and performing qualitative evaluation of XRD data for calcium phosphate particles. During the same week, Dr. Miguel Antunes Correia Oliveira and Dr. Sandra Cristina Almeida Pina completed a secondment at our institute, they visited our laboratory facilities and discussed the project progress and future collaborations. Project partners for University of Granada, Prof. Juan Antonio Marchal and Dr. Ana Voltes Martínez, also attended the workshop and visited the laboratory and premises of our Institute. The EngVIPO project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe (HORIZON‑MSCA‑2023‑SE‑01‑01) under Grant Agreement No. 101183041.
