On the occasion of the conferment of the honorary degree of Doctor Honoris Causa by the National University of Cuyo in his hometown, San Rafael, Argentina, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini was interviewed by radio, newspaper, and television media. The importance of the event lies in the fact that, for the first time ever, such a prestigious honorary degree was conferred in the city of San Rafael. In the interviews, Prof. Boccaccini highlighted the importance of free public education, including university education, as it exists in Argentina, for social mobility and broad access to knowledge. He also emphasized the importance of interaction between Argentina’s system of science, technology, and innovation and the large community of Argentine scientists living abroad, noting that they can continue contributing to the country while fostering strong international academic and research collaborations.
