Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini was an invited speaker at the Symposium “23 Years of Plastic Surgery at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen and FAU” held on 28th March 2026 to celebrate the remarkable career of Prof. Raymund E. Horch, Director of the Clinic of Plastic and Hand Surgery at University Hospital Erlangen, on the occasion of his retirement. Prof. Raymund Horch has been a long-standing supporter of the FAU Institute of Biomaterials and a fantastic collaborator on numerous research projects, including our joint work and leadership within the CRC/TRR225 Collaborative Research Center “From the Fundamentals of Biofabrication Towards Functional Tissue Models”. Our successful collaboration of many years (29 joint publications, more than 1000 citations) with Prof. Raymund Horch and his team in the field of tissue engineering highlights the strength of FAU’s interdisciplinary research environment and the open, collaborative spirit across faculties and departments.
