Prof. Boccaccini attended the Annual Meeting of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, held in Berlin on 24-26 June 2026. The event was particularly meaningful, as our long-standing collaborator, Prof. Joao Mano, from CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, Portugal, received the prestigious Humboldt Research Award, one of the world’s highest academic honors recognizing outstanding international researchers. Prof. Mano will be hosted by us at the Institute of Biomaterials, FAU, where we will collaborate on biomaterials research focused on novel combinations of organic and inorganic materials with regenerative potential. Prof. Boccaccini said: “We warmly congratulate Prof. Joao Mano on this very well deserved award and look forward to collaborating with him in this exciting project. Attending the Annual Meeting of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation also reminded me that it is one of the world’s leading organizations promoting excellence and international collaboration in research”.
