We are currently hosting Dr. Marwa Eid Abdel Aziz Mohamed, researcher from Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute – CMRDI, Cairo, Egypt. We are collaborating with Dr. Eid and the team at CMRDI in the frame of a joint project funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation “Research Group Linkage Programme”, with Dr. Adel Francis as principal investigator at CMRDI and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini as principal invetigator at FAU. The project involves the design and characterisation of organic-inorganic hybrid composite coatings based on the combination of pre-ceramic polymers with biodegradable filler materials (natural hydroxyapatite n-HAP and chitosan) for the corrosion protection of Mg implants in body fluids.
