Retreat of Research Unit FOR 5657 “BIOAntiFatigue” in Weißenfels (Saxony-Anhalt)

The Retreat 2026 of the Research Unit “Bioinspired Anti-Fatigue” (FOR 5657, BIOAntiFatigue), funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), took place on 26-27 August 2026 in in Weißenfels (Saxony-Anhalt), organised by Prof. Claudia Fleck and Dr. Tom Lindtner, from the Institute for Materials Science, TU Berlin. At the Retreat, early career scientists and principal investigators working in the Research Unit presented the latest results obtained in the different projects and the progress of the collaborations among different participating laboratories were discussed. The Research Unit consists of four independent (but interrelated) projects led by researchers in six institutions. Our Institute was represented by Andrada Damian-Buda (PhD student), Dr. Irem Unalan and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini. We are part of the project focusing on fish bone and its fatigue resistance parameters for improved biomimetic design, in collaboration with Prof. Fleck’s research team at TU Berlin.
