3/3Our Institute had a very active participation at the 35th Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB 2026), held on 7-11 September 2026 in Antwerp, Belgium. Several members of the Institute contributed with poster presentations. Dr. Irem Unalan and Dr. Julia Ce presented oral talks. Prof. Boccaccini was the keynote speaker in the symposium “Bioactive Coatings and Electrophoretic Deposition From Design to Biomedical Applications”, which attracted a lot of interest. He was also one of the speakers at the special session organiszed to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the European Society for Biomaterials. Moreover several other contributions were presented in collaboration with researchers from other institutions, e.g. in the framework of the EU projects BBCE and other project collaborations. It was nice to meet also former members or visitors of our Institute attending the conference. And a final highlight: our PhD student Ms Andrada Damian-Buda was recognised with one of the Best Poster Awards at the closing ceremony of the conference for her excellent poster: “Surface functionalization of mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles: modulating protein adsorption and tailoring cell interactions for intracellular ion delivery”.
