Dr. Rainer Detsch, Jahid Alakbarli (PhD student) and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini attended the Annual meeting of the German Society for Biomaterials (DGBM) held in Aachen on 24-26 September 2026. Prof. Boccaccini was a member of the National Scientific Committee and co-chaired the session “Ceramics and Bioglasses” with Prof. Uwe Gbureck (Univ. of Würzbug). Dr. R. Detsch presented the poster: “Develoment of drop-on-demand bioprinting of gliobastoma spheroids in alginate/GelMA bioinks”, a research collaboration within the Collaborative Research Center TRR 225. A highlight of our participation was the award received by Mr Alakbarli (Best Master thesis award) for his thesis titled: “Bioprinting of Modified 3D Alginate-Based Glioblastoma Constructs via Combined Extrusion and Drop-on-Demand Approaches”. Congratulations! Prof. Joao Mano (University of Aveiro, Portugal) who recently received the Humboldt Research Award for carrying out a research collaboration with our Institute at FAU, attended the conference and presented the keynote talk: “Soft biomaterials providing organization freedom to cells”.
