Marcela Arango-Ospina, Dr. Zoya Hadzhieva, and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini successfully organized the annual BBCE (Baltic Biomaterials Center of Excellence) Summer School on scientific writing at the Institute of Biomaterials (FAU), which took place in Erlangen on 26-30 October, 2026.
The five-day event focused on strengthening the participants scientific writing and communication skills. From our institute Dr. Irem Ünalan, Dr. Julia Will and Dr. Rainer Detsch provided inputs on oral presentation strategies and scientific poster design. Moreover, workshops on scientific writing in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), grant application writing and the integration of statistical, numerical, and visual information into scientific texts were offered.
The Summer School provided early-stage researchers an opportunity to enhance essential skills for communicating scientific knowledge in both written and oral formats. We at the FAU Institute of Biomaterials are proud to be one of the international partners of BBCE.
