We are currently hosting Ms Amira Elmaddah, PhD student and researcher at Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute – CMRDI, Cairo, Egypt. We are collaborating with Ms Elmaddah and the team at CMRDI in the frame of a joint project funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation “Research Group Linkage Programme”, with Dr. Adel Francis as principal investigator and Dr. Marwa Eid Abdel Aziz Mohamed at CMRDI and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini as principal invetigator at FAU with the participation of Dr. Zoya Hadzhieva and Dr. Irem Unalan. The project involves the development of a new family of of organic-inorganic hybrid composite coatings based on the combination of pre-ceramic polymers with biodegradable filler materials (hydroxyapatite and chitosan) for the corrosion protection of Mg implants in body fluids.
