Polyvinyl alcohol based-hydrogel loaded with drug loaded mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles for immunomodulation therapy of chronic inflammation-related diseases
Collaborator: Prof. Dr. Aldo R. Boccaccini
Modulating macrophage plasticity could be a strategy to improve the wound healing process by shortening wound closure times and promoting tissue regeneration. In this regard, a new paradigm is emerging: the development of advanced biomaterials capable of inducing in-situ macrophage polarization to offer a novel and transformative approach to wound care. With this aim, the present project is investigating the combination of biomolecule doped mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) with a polyvinyl alcohol based-hydrogel, which should exhibit bioactivity properties. The complete characterisation of the new composites is also part of this project.
