Progress in the development and characterisation of Bismuth doped bioactive glass coatings

This work is part of the long-term collaboration between FunGlass Center and the FAU Institute of Biomaterials. The project is a continuation of the previous collaborative work on the fabrication and analysis of bismuth-containing bioactive glasses for biomedical applications [1]. The current collaboration is focused on the fabrication of bismuth-containing bioactive glass coatings deposited by a multi-technique approach and it is on the framework of the project RADIOBIOCOATS, an initiative in the framework of the projects of excellent researchers R2-R4 from the NextGenerationEU program through the Recovery and Resilience Plan for Slovakia. The outcomes of this stage will be related to the understanding of the influence of different coating deposition techniques on the performance of bismuth-containing bioactive glass coatings in in-vitro cellular and bacterial environments.
