Multifunctional injectable hydrogels embedded with mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles for sustained release of osteogenic drugs

Betreuer: Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini

Bone defects caused by trauma, disease or tumour removal create a major challenge for orthopaedic surgeons. Due to the current limitations of existing bone grafting procedures, the bone graft market is rapidly shifting towards synthetic tissue-engineered bone grafts. Bioactive injectable hydrogels hold significant potential in this regard [1]. This project aims to develop a robust injectable hydrogel incorporated with drug-loaded mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles to be used for bone regeneration.
