Fibrous structures for tissue engineering

Betreuer in Erlangen: Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini

Eva received her master’s degree in 2016 at the Faculty of Mechanical engineering at Brno University of Technology. Then she started her PhD studies at the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) at the Department of Advanced Materials. The core of her studies is preparation of biocompatible fibrous structures via electrospinning for tissue engineering. She focuses mainly on bioresorbable bone scaffolds consisting of polycaprolactone matrix and incorporated hydroxyapatite phase. She also studies the influence of surface plasma treatment on bioactivity of the fibrous polymer structures.

Her project at the FAU Institute of Biomaterials involves the evaluation of the mechanical and biological properties of her fibrous structures, especially to understand in-depth the influence of the ceramic (hydroxyapatite) phase in the polymer matrix on the structural characteristics.
