This project is framed into the Doctoral Thesis dealing with thermal, mechanical and biological properties of novel PLA-Mg materials for additive manufacturing. PLA scaffolds can be used for the regeration of bone tissues. However, bone tissue regeneration is a slow process. Adding Mg microparticles into the PLA composition enhances bone regeneration, as studied by Ferrandez-Montero et al. [1,2]. On the light of previous results related to the cell viability on PLA/Mg films, the present study at the FAU Institute of Biomaterioals will investigate in deeper detail the cell viability on 3D printed PLA-Mg scaffolds.
