Development of Tissue Engineering Scaffolds with Bioinks Developed by the Pickering-High Internal Phase Emulsion (HIPE) Process

Supervisors: Dr. Elif Yüce, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini
In this study, an innovative Pickering-HIPE bioink will be developed for 3D bioprinting of patient-specific tissue scaffolds with controlled porosity and mechanical properties suitable for soft tissue regeneration. The bioink will be modified by incorporating bioactive glass particles to enhance vascularization and essential oils to provide antimicrobial benefits. Biocompatibility and structural stability will be assured by physicochemical and mechanical characterizations. Formulation parameters will be optimized using machine-learning tools that further enhance the printing performance. Tissue mimicking scaffolds will finally be fabricated, and their regenerative potential will be assessed in vitro. This work represents an advanced application of MBG-stabilized Pickering-HIPE bioinks in tissue engineering and is part of the research project led by Dr. Elif Yüce, supported by TÜBİTAK.
