Engineering Vascularized Implants for Personalised Osteochondral Tissue Regeneration: From medical imaging to pre-clinical validation
Osteochondral injuries (OCI) represent a common and complex challenge in orthopaedics, arising from conditions such as trauma or osteonecrosis. The EngVIPO project focuses on the development of biofabricated, patient-specific implants to support the regeneration of these defects. The stay at the Institute of Biomaterials in Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen, will be dedicated to studying 3D-printed ADA–gelatin hydrogels incorporating standard and doped TCP particles, contributing to the development of strategies for osteochondral injury repair.
The project EngVIPO has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe (HORIZON-MSCA-2023-SE-01-01) under the Grant Agreement Number 101183041.
