Wound healing is a complex and dynamic biological process that requires different types of cells to complete the critical steps at the appropriate time [1]. Bioactive glasses are gaining applications in soft tissue repair, including wound healing [2]. In particular, Boron containing bioactive glasses have been shown to promote angiogenesis [3], a key process that promotes the growth of new tissues. In this work we explore wound dressings made of non woven electrospun natural/synthetic polymers and bioactive glass particles containing B. The experiments focus on developing, optimizing, evaluating and comparing polymer solutions containing B doped bioactive glass particles, to successfully fabricate fiber mats that offer structural and functional abilities such as adhesion, moisture retention, porosity/permeability, antibacterial activity and cell activity.
