Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini presented the invited lecture “Biodegradable and bioactive composite materials in tissue engineering” at the “21st Symposium on Composites – Verbundwersktoffe 2017” held on 5-7 July 2017 in Bremen, Germany. The presentation was in the framework of the special session “Recent research results in composite materials at the European Virtual Institute KMM-VIN”, organised by the European Virtual Institute on Knowledge-based Multifunctional Materials AISBL (KMM-VIN) (Prof. M. Basista). Prof. Boccaccini also presented the lecture: “Fabrication of composite and hybrid scaffolds based on biopolymers and bioactive glass using a combination of electrospinning and sol-gel methods for tissue engineering applications”. Prof. Boccaccini chaired the sessions “Polymer matrix composites-II” and “Renewable resources (biodegradable)”. Prof. Boccaccini is a member of the organising committee of the series of symposia on Composites (“Verbundwerkstoffe”) which was established in 1988 by the German Materials Society (DGM).
