Marcela Arango Ospina, PhD student at the Institute of Biomaterials, attended the Pan American Ceramics Congress and Ferroelectrics Meeting of Americas held in Panama on 7-11 April, organised by the American Ceramic Society. Marcela gave a talk during the Bioceramics session on “Antibacterial properties of silicate bioactive glasses containing boron and strontium for bone regeneration”, in co-authorship with Prof. Aldo R: Boccaccini. The conference offered great plenary speakers, including Prof. Olivia Graeve from the University of California, San Diego who talked about “Materials for extreme (and space) environments”. It was also a great opportunity for Marcela to meet current collaborators of the Institute like Prof. Dachamir Hotza from The Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil, and Prof. Juan Muñoz Saldaña from Cinvestav, Mexico and discuss the current progress of the joint projects.
