End-of-Year Meeting and Christmas Dinner 2024 at the Institute of Biomaterials

The End-of-Year Meeting and Christmas Dinner of the Institute of Biomaterials were held on 10th December 2024. Permanent staff, PhD students, post-docs, undergraduate students, academic visitors and guests attended the event. Prof. Boccaccini gave a presentation summarizing the main achievements and activities of the Institute in 2024. Two international events were mentioned as highlights of the year, namley i) the 8th China-Europe Symposium on Biomaterials in Regenerative Medicine, held in Nuremberg (Sept. 15-18, 2024), chaired by Prof. Boccaccini, and ii) the Symposium to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Institute, held in Erlangen on 29th November 2024. Prof. Boccaccini also highlighted several successful activities and outcomes of high impact in terms of acquisition of funding, publication of high impact papers (>92 in 2024) and important participation in major international conferences with contributed, invited and keynote talks. A special part of the presentation was dedicated to present the different awards and recognitions obtained by members of the Institute in 2024. Several activities organised in collaboration with our EU partners at FunGlass (Trencin, Slovakia), BBCE (Riga, Latvia)  and NANOBLOC EU project were also showcased. In terms of teaching and supervision of undergraduate students, during 2024, more than 50 Master, Bachelor and Project students, including international (ERASMUS) students, carried out their theses/research projects in our Institute. In addition, 7 doctoral theses were completed, and we received in 2024 more than 40 academic visitors and international students from many countries around the world, confirming the high international visibility of our Institute.
