Doctoral thesis success

Wei Li mit Geschenk und Doktorhut neben sich Prof. Boccaccini

On 29th July 2015 Wei Li successfully defended his doctoral thesis entitled: “45S5 Bioactive Glass-Based Composite Scaffolds with Polymer Coatings for Bone Tissue Engineering Therapeutics”, carried out under supervision of Professor Aldo R. Boccaccini at our Institute. In addition to Prof. Boccaccini, Prof. I. Cacciotti (University Niccolo Cusano, Rome, Italy), Prof. N. Vogel (Institute of Particle Technology, FAU) and Prof. D. W. Schubert (Institute for Polymer Materials, FAU) were the members of the doctoral defense committee. Wei was the recipient of a fellowship of the China Scholarship Council (CSC). He is the sixth PhD student graduating from the Erlangen Institute of Biomaterials, since its establishment in 2009. Professor Boccaccini highlighted Wei’s outstanding contribution during his doctoral studies, which have notably expanded our research activities in the field of scaffolds with therapeutic drug delivery capability. In addition, Wei has been able to establish a very effective and fruitful collaboration with researchers at the Institute of Polymer Materialsat FAU led by Prof. D. W. Schubert. Two of the seventeen articles published by Wei Li as result of his research activities at the Institute of Biomaterials are listed below. We congratulate Wei Li on this achievement and wish him good luck in his post-doctoral career. (Click images to enlarge)
