Our paper entitled: “Antioxidant mesoporous Ce-doped bioactive glass nanoparticles with anti-inflammatory and pro-osteogenic activities” has been just published in Materials Today Bio Zheng, K., et al., Mater. Today Bio 5 (2020) 100041. The study reported in this paper was carried out with collaborators at Nobil Bio Ricerche Srl, and Department of Applied Science and Technology, Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in the framework of the MOZART (“MesopOrous matrices for localiZed pH-triggered releAse of theRapeuTic ions and drugs”)EU (Horizon 2020) project. Cerium doped mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (Ce-MBGNs) were developed which exhibited antioxidant properties suitable to target oxidative stress related to bone remodeling and disease. Ce-MBGNs also exhibited pro-osteogenic activity and were shown to suppress pro-osteoclastogenic response. The developed Ce-MBGNs have high potential for a variety of applications in bone defect treatment under inflammatory conditions. (Image from: Zheng, K., et al., Mater Today Bio 5 (2020) 100041).
