This year, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini marks 30 years of continuous membership of the German Materials Society (DGM), the largest technical society for materials science and materials engineering in Europe. Prof. Boccaccini said: “I am very proud of having been a member of DGM for 30 years. My PhD supervisor, Prof. Gerhard Ondracek, encouraged me to join DGM as I was a PhD student at RWTH Aachen University, and since then the Society has been a constant companion and important support of my career, offering a powerful networking platform for interacting with experts in the field from both academia and industry. I am very grateful for all the support and recognition received from DGM colleagues in different stages of my career and I am honored to have been able to serve DGM in different capacities over the years”. Prof. Boccaccini was the recipient of the prestigious DGM Award (DGM-Preis) in 2015. He represents (since 2017) the DGM in the Executive Committee of the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS), he currently chairs the DGM Regionalforum Erlangen,  established in 2018, and has been a member of the scientific committee of the MSE Congress, organised by DGM, for more than 10 years. He has also been a member of the organizing committee of several DGM conferences for many years, including the Symposium on Composites (since 1999) and the Euro BioMat Conference series (since 2011).
