On 27th May 2024, at the opening ceremony of the 12th World Biomaterials Congress (WBC 2024), held in Daegu, South Korea, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini was inducted to the International College of Fellows of Biomaterials Science and Engineering. Becoming a Fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering (FBSE) is the highest honor the global biomaterials community can bestow on outstanding biomaterials scientists, which is awarded by the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBSE). The International College of Fellows of Biomaterials Science and Engineering is a group of less that 500 of the most respected biomaterials scientists worldwide. Prof. Boccaccini said: “It is a true honor to be elected FBSE. This is indeed a recognition of the biomaterials international community to our continuous work contributing to the field. I thank everyone who has been part of our efforts over the years, including current and former group members and the hundreds of colleagues with whom we have collaborated worldwide. While I regret not being able to be at WBC 2024 to attend the induction ceremony, I look forward to contribute to the activities of the International College of Fellows of Biomaterials Science and Engineering in the near future”.
