Inauguration of our new Scanning Electron Microscope

Prof. A. R. Boccaccini und Prof. D. W. Schubert beim neue Rasterelektronenmikroskop (REM)

A seminar was held on 2nd October 2014 to inaugurate the new scanning electron microscopy (SEM) facility in the Institute of Biomaterials in collaboration with the Institute of Polymer Materials. This new SEM acquired with support of the German Science Foundation (DFG) belongs to the two mentioned Institutes. Thus both Prof. A. R. Boccaccini and Prof. D. W. Schubert (Institute of Polymer Materials) were present. Dr R. Detsch (Institute of Biomaterials) gave an oral presentation highlighting the great capability of the new SEM to characterise both “standard” biomaterials such as bioceramics metals and biopolymers, as well as novel materials, including nanomaterials, organic-inorganic composites, bioactive thin films, surface patterns and topographies, hydrogels and for detailed observation of cell-surface interactions. (Click images to enlarge)
