Euro BioMat conference in Weimar

Prof. Boccaccini und Prof. Rezwan

Prof. Boccaccini presented the oral contribution: “Bioactive Glass Based Nanostructured Scaffolds for Vascularized Bone Tissue Engineering” in the session: Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine at the EuroBioMat 2015 conference held in Weimar, Germany, on 21-22 April 2015. Prof. Boccaccini was a member of the organising committee of EuroBioMat 2015 and he presented also the following three poster /oral/poster contributions:
“In vitro effects of Cu doped 45S5 bioactive glass and lipid peroxidation on the growth of human osteoblast-like cells”, a result of our collaboration with Dr. Lidija Milkovic and Prof. Neven Zarkovic, Rudjer Boskovic Institute, Zagreb (Croatia);
“Development and activity of human osteoclast cells on 45S5 bioactive glass” in collaboration with R. Detsch, A. Hoppe, A. Grünewald, and Profs. E. Strasser, P. Steiniger, University Hospital Erlangen;
“Development and evaluation of 45S5 bioactive glass based scaffolds coated with selenium nanoparticles or with poly(lactide-co-glycolide)/selenium nanoparticles”, a result of our collaboration with the research group of Prof. Magdalena Stevanovic, Centre for Fine Particles Processing and Nanotechnology, Serbian Academy of Science and Arts, Belgrade (Serbia).
Two poster presentations of our collaboration with the group of Prof. Jürgen Stampfl (Institute of Materials Science and Technology, TU Wien) on additive manufacturing of bioactive glass scaffolds for bone tissue engineering were also presented:
R. Gmeiner et al., “Additive Manufacturing of High Strength Bioactive Glass Scaffolds for Load Bearing Applications”, and J. A. Schönherr, et al., “Lithography-based Additive Manufacturing of High Strength Bioactive Glass and Glass Ceramics for Medical Applications”
