Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini was an invited speaker at the 15th Conference and Exhibition of the European Ceramic Society (ECerS), held on July 9-13, 2017, in Budapest, Hungary. Prof. Boccaccini presented the talk: “Expanding applications of bioactive glasses in tissue engineering and wound healing” in the symposium “Ceramics and glasses for healthcare”. Our institute was also represented by Ms Nicoletta Toniolo, who presented the poster: “Geopolymers incorporating silicate waste” and Ms Rocio Tejido-Rastrilla, who presented the poster: “Surface functionalization of novel silicate bioactive glass by bioinspired coating”, both PhD students (pictured with Prof. Boccaccini) in the ITN EU project “Advanced glasses, Composites And Ceramics for High growth Industries European Training Network (ETN) – CoACH“. Prof. Boccaccini met numerous colleagues, including: Prof. Alicia Duran (Institute of Ceramics and Glasses, Madrid) and Dusan Galusek (Alexander Dubček University, Trenčín, Slovakia), collaborators in the project “Centre for functional and surface-functionalized glasses” (FunGlass).
