The latest progress meeting of the project “Novel Biopolymer Hydrogels for Understanding Complex Tissue Biomechanics”funded by the “Emerging Fields Initiative, EFI”  of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg was held at the Institute of Biomaterials on 20 December 2019, hosted by Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini. The project is investigating a new generation of biopolymers (proxy materials) that should mimic specific soft tissues of the human body from the biochemical and mechanical points of view to enable the choice of appropriate materials for 3D biofabrication of artificial organs, as well as modeling approaches for predictive simulations. In the picture principal investigators Dr. Silvia Budday,  Department of Mechanical  Engineering, Prof. Ben Fabry,  Department of Physics, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini (Institute of Biomaterials) and early career investigators working on the project. Not in the photo: project coordinator Prof. Paul Steinmann and PI Prof. Friedrich Paulsen.
