Waldemar will help in our increasing outreach and teaching activities in the field of biomedical materials and applications of materials in medicine as part of a new set of demonstration materials and models.
We participate in several initiatives of the FAU Department of Materials Science and Engineering and of the Faculty of Engineering  aiming at disseminating our research activities on biomedical materials to a wider audience, including pupils of primary and secondary schools and the public in general. Prof. Boccaccini said: “we are increasingly engaged in outreach activities, in addition to our undergraduate courses, for which such demonstration materials and models are very important as they help us to show with clear examples the application of biomedical devices and implants”. Dr. Julia Will, senior researcher and lecturer in the Institute commented: “Especially our large undergraduate course on Basics of Biomaterials in the Medical Engineering (Medizintechnik) study program, with over 150 1st semester students, will benefit from these new demonstration models”.
