Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini hosted the scientific board meeting of the Collaborative Research Centre TRR/SFB 225 “From the fundamentals of biofabrication towards functional tissue models” <http://trr225biofab.de/de/>  held on 24th July 2020 as a face-to-face event (the first since March 2020) at the Institute of Biomaterials, FAU, Erlangen. The Centre has received funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG) <https://www.dfg.de/>  and is investigating fundamentals of biofabrication and its systematic exploitation to generate functional human tissue models in a 12-year perspective. The research activities in TRR225 are carried out in collaborative arrangements by researchers at the three Universities (University of Würzburg, University of Bayreuth and University of Erlangen-Nuremberg). In SFB TRR 225, Prof. Boccaccini is the spokesperson for the site Erlangen, which includes principal investigators from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) and the University Hospital Erlangen (UKER). A recent activity organised by our Institute within TRR225 was the Summer School “Technologies for Biofabrication” , coordinated by Dr. R. Detsch and Prof. A. R. Boccaccini, that took place remotely on 20-24 July.
