We are finishing the year with good news. The German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved for funding the Research Unit “Bioinspired Anti-Fatigue”, which will focus on materials science structure-property strategies based on natural systems with evolutionarily optimised fatigue resistance. The Research Unit is led by Prof. Claudia Fleck, Institute for Materials Science, TU Berlin and it consists of 4 project led by researchers from TU Berlin, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, MPI of Colloids and interfaces Potsdam, University of Bayreuth and University of Haifa (Israel). Our Institute (Dr. Irem Unalan, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini) will participate in one the projects of the Research Unit, related to fish bone and its fatigue resistance parameters for improved biomimetic design, in collaboration with Prof. Fleck.
