Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini attended the XRM (X-ray microscopy)-Workshop held on 3rd March 2020 at Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems (Fraunhofer IMWS)  in Halle, Germany. In this symposium, chaired by Prof. Thomas Höche, Head of Business Unit Optical Materials and Technologies, Fraunhofer IMWS, the progress of the research projects funded by German Science Foundation (DFG) which involve the use of XRM as key technique to characterise the structure of inorganic materials, was presented. One of the projects involving participation of our Institute is related to the characterisation of crystallisation and microstructure of melt-derived and sol-gel derived silicate bioactive glasses, and key results were presented by Dr. Araceli de Pablos-Martin at the Workshop. This project is led by Prof. Delia Brauer, University of Jena, Dr. de Pablos Martin, Fraunhofer IMWS and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, FAU (pictured), as principal investigators.
