In the fight against the corona virus, urgently needed breathing masks for doctors and staff of the University Hospital Erlangen are being produced in cooperation with the Chair of Polymer Materials (LSP, Prof. Dirk W. Schubert). The design of the masks made of spunbond fleece allows them to be adjusted exactly to the respective wearer, which is especially important when dealing with infected persons. Fasteners required for this application are produced at the Institute of Biomaterials (WW7, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini) with the existing 3D printers in shift operation and they are passed on to the LSP team.
